Ransomware attack disrupts Newfound Area School District's teaching systems

Newfound Area School District experienced a cyber breach around November 15, 2023, subsequently described by district officials and their recovery contractor as ransomware. Personnel were locked out of computers, lesson-planning resources, printing and financial applications, with significant disruption continuing into December. On November 29, the cyber incident also prevented a middle school from providing remote instruction during a separate building closure caused by a heating failure. The physical closure itself was not caused by the attack.
