Ransomware attack disrupts Toyota Kreditbank's financial service operations in Germany

Toyota Kreditbank identified a cyberattack affecting its German systems on November 6, 2023. The company's subsequent financial reporting and audit documentation identified ransomware and confirmed that management temporarily shut down systems as a containment measure. German banking and financing operations consequently experienced prolonged restrictions, with potential effects on lease payments, financing arrangements and customer documentation. Normal regulated business operations resumed following system restoration by mid-December. A broader Toyota Financial Services Europe and Africa disclosure acknowledged unauthorized activity and system shutdowns at a limited number of locations; the German banking entity is identified separately from its Japanese parent.
