DDoS attack disrupts internet connectivity across Singapore's public healthcare institutions

On November 1, 2023, a distributed denial-of-service attack overwhelmed internet-facing infrastructure operated by Singapore's national health technology provider Synapxe. Internet connectivity was disrupted from approximately 9:20 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., affecting public hospitals and polyclinics. Institutional websites, email and other internet-dependent services were unavailable before connectivity was progressively restored. Synapxe and Singapore's health authorities confirmed that critical clinical systems, patient records, appointments and patient care remained operational. The material impact was the interruption of shared digital connectivity and online services supplied to healthcare institutions.
