Ransomware attack interrupts Allied Pilots Association's pilot-facing online services

On October 30, 2023, the Allied Pilots Association, a U.S. labor union representing American Airlines pilots, discovered a ransomware attack that encrypted portions of its computer network. The union took systems offline and began restoration from backups, prioritizing online products and tools used by its pilot members. The resulting unavailability of member-facing digital services constituted a disruption to the union's own service delivery. There is no evidence that the incident disrupted American Airlines flight operations.
