Apparent denial-of-service attack interrupts Associated Press online news access

On October 31, 2023, The Associated Press experienced repeated traffic surges and a partial outage of its apnews.com website. Although the homepage remained accessible, individual news articles failed to load or returned errors until the following morning, preventing readers from accessing part of AP's online news service. AP described the behavior as consistent with a denial-of-service attack while continuing to investigate its cause. Its mobile applications and news-delivery systems for customers were unaffected. Anonymous Sudan claimed responsibility, but AP did not verify the claim.
