Estes Express detected unauthorized activity on October 1, 2023 and disconnected core IT systems. Its booking interfaces, electronic data interchange, website, phones and customer-facing shipment systems were impaired, forcing workarounds and temporary diversion of some freight to competing carriers. Estes continued collecting and delivering freight and restored its capabilities in stages through October 24.
