DDoS attacks degrade Bungie's Destiny 2 online gaming services

Beginning around September 18, 2023, distributed denial-of-service attacks against Bungie's Destiny 2 online infrastructure caused widespread connection failures, login problems and repeated disconnections. Bungie publicly confirmed that elevated error rates were attributable to DDoS activity rather than the game's planned updates or unrelated software fixes. Reports described worsening service availability over September 18 and 19, when some players were unable to access the game at all. The attack materially degraded delivery of Bungie's online gaming service to its users.
