Cyberattack disrupts HSHS hospital and Prevea clinical systems across two states

Beginning 27 August 2023 a cyberattack disabled major IT systems of Hospital Sisters Health System and its clinical partner Prevea Health, affecting hospitals and medical practices in Illinois and Wisconsin. Patient portals, electronic health records, telephone and billing functions suffered outages, with appointment access and care coordination impaired. HSHS restored Epic/MyChart functions on 12 September, although recovery varied by service; hospitals generally remained open.
