Ransomware attack freezes Essendant orders and distribution operations

A March 6, 2023 ransomware incident disrupted Essendant's wholesale distribution network. Customers could not place or fulfill orders, pending shipments were cancelled, carriers were instructed to suspend pickups, and suppliers were asked to stop inbound deliveries because warehouses could not receive goods. Limited pick-pack-ship recovery began after more than a week. LockBit claimed responsibility; Essendant confirmed the ransomware incident without independently identifying the actor.
