Ransomware attack disrupts surgery and patient services at Hospital Clínic Barcelona

A March 5, 2023 ransomware attack against Hospital Clínic Barcelona disabled clinical information systems and forced the cancellation of about 150 nonurgent surgeries and 2,000-3,000 outpatient appointments. Radiotherapy, diagnostic testing and other scheduled care were interrupted or reduced, with manual workflows and phased recovery extending into late March. Emergency and inpatient care continued. Authorities and the hospital attributed the attack to RansomHouse.
