Medusa ransomware attack forces Betton municipality to manual public-service procedures

During the night of 30–31 August 2023 the municipality of Betton was struck by ransomware, forcing its IT environment to be disconnected. Administrative employees used paper-based processes and electronic registrations for school meals and extracurricular services were disrupted as the academic year began. Regional cyber-response officials and the mayor later attributed the attack to Medusa; restoration of workstation access extended over roughly two months.
