Gaston College ransomware attack interrupts student registration and orientation services

An unknown attacker compromised Gaston College around February 21-22, 2023 and launched a ransomware attack. The college disabled critical systems, leaving student self-service and online continuing-education registration unavailable, requiring manual processing of applications, and preventing some new-student orientations for several weeks. Classes continued on schedule through alternative platforms, but student-facing administrative service delivery was materially degraded.
