St Helens council cyberattack interrupts local services and payment processing

A cyber incident disclosed in August 2023 forced St Helens Borough Council to isolate ICT systems. Staff lost access to business applications, some online council transactions were interrupted and temporary changes were required for supplier and social-care payments and certain housing-benefit applications. Most council services continued through workarounds.
