Ransomware at OSG Hengelo disrupts digital learning across multiple schools

OSG Hengelo discovered widespread IT outages on May 30, 2023, after a ransomware attack encrypted school servers. Across four schools, telephones, Wi-Fi, network access and printers were affected; students using tablets could not work online, and normal educational and administrative activities were impeded. The school group reported obtaining access to its encrypted data after an agreement with the attackers by June 13; whether a ransom was paid remains unconfirmed.
