Valid Certificadora cyber incident interrupts digital certificate services in Brazil

On April 16, 2023, Valid Certificadora experienced a compromise of its technology environment and disconnected systems as a precautionary security measure. The shutdown interrupted digital certificate issuance, validation and authentication functions. Professionals reported being unable to sign documents or access electronic government and judicial systems, and the regional medical council CREMERJ confirmed that Valid's technical difficulties affected some council services. CrossLock claimed involvement, but Valid disputed claims of data leakage.
