NCR ransomware attack disrupts Aloha and Counterpoint cloud services

An outage affecting NCR's Aloha and Counterpoint cloud applications began around April 12, 2023. NCR determined on April 13 that ransomware affecting a company data center caused the interruption. Some hospitality and retail customers lost access to back-office and administrative functionality, requiring manual workarounds for certain business processes. NCR confirmed that in-restaurant purchasing and payment transactions generally continued, and its SEC filings subsequently documented the customer operational impact.
