Cyberattack disrupts municipal email and public communications in Westmount

In November 2022, the City of Westmount, Quebec, confirmed a cyberattack affecting several municipal servers and causing a computer outage. The municipality became unable to receive email messages, requiring residents to contact municipal services by telephone or in person. LockBit 3.0 subsequently claimed responsibility, but public reporting did not conclusively establish encryption or the full range of affected municipal services.
