DDoS attack disables Eesti Energia and related electricity-service digital channels

On November 19, 2022, a large-scale distributed denial-of-service attack disrupted the public-facing digital channels of Estonia's Eesti Energia group. The company's website and mobile application became unavailable, alongside websites and digital applications associated with Elektrilevi and other related businesses. Estonia's Information System Authority confirmed that the attacks began affecting several Estonian organizations at approximately 10:14 local time. Customer-facing electronic channels were temporarily inaccessible, requiring restoration efforts coordinated with cybersecurity authorities and service partners. Eesti Energia stated that customer information and internal systems remained protected. The incident affected digital customer-service delivery, with no verified interruption of electricity generation or physical power distribution.
