Fire Rescue Victoria cyberattack disables automated station dispatch

A December 15 cyberattack disabled Fire Rescue Victoria IT and its automated Station Turnout System. Fire crews continued emergency response using pagers, telephones and radios, but official Victorian oversight later found that the manual dispatch workaround increased firefighters’ station turnout times; the automated system was restored on August 1, 2023.
