Cyberattack on Núcleo interrupts Personal wallet transactions and customer services

In late October 2022, Paraguayan telecommunications operator Núcleo, which provides services under the Personal brand, suffered a malicious software intrusion affecting Windows-dependent applications and platforms. According to the company's response to the consumer-protection authority, the attack disrupted its call center, SMS messaging, USSD-dependent functions and corporate email support. Personal's electronic-wallet operations were also suspended as a precaution because transaction confirmations depended on affected messaging infrastructure. Mobile voice, internet access and Flow services remained operational; the material disruption concerned payment-related functionality and customer-service delivery.
