Malware incident suspends Mexican SICT transportation licensing and permit services

On October 24, 2022, Mexico's Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation detected malicious software on departmental computer equipment. The agency temporarily suspended affected digital systems as a containment measure, interrupting the issuance and renewal of federal commercial-driver licenses and transportation permits, as well as civil-aviation authorizations and related administrative procedures. Authorities extended existing document validity while systems recovered. On December 2, SICT formally announced the resumption of these services. The agency stated that the malware had not damaged its internal systems or compromised citizens' personal information.
