Norman Public Schools ransomware attack disables essential educational platforms for approximately eight days

On November 4, 2022, Norman Public Schools reported a malicious ransomware attack affecting district networks and computer systems. The district instructed students and employees to stop using district-issued computers while its technology team isolated and restored affected infrastructure. Most operating systems, including the educational platforms Canvas and Seesaw and the student-information system Infinite Campus, were unavailable for approximately eight days. Their disruption materially impaired access to digital instructional resources and school administration workflows. Most affected platforms were expected to return on November 11. School closures are not attributed to the attack; classes were already not scheduled on November 4 because of parent-teacher conferences.
