RecordTV ransomware attack disrupts live broadcasting and television production

On October 8, 2022, attackers compromised RecordTV's central content systems in Brazil and encrypted audiovisual archives used for news production and broadcasting. The incident forced the early termination of the live Fala Brasil program, disrupted access to prerecorded content and required emergency changes to subsequent programming. Reporting identified affected broadcasting operations in São Paulo, Minas Gerais and the Federal District. The broadcaster progressively restored systems and recovered its files over the following four days. ALPHV/BlackCat subsequently claimed responsibility, but the attribution was not independently confirmed by RecordTV.
