Ransomware interrupts Uruguay transport ministry services and permit issuance

An incident beginning on 17 October 2022 deployed ransomware against servers at Uruguay’s Ministry of Transport and Public Works, making public-facing services unavailable. The ministry temporarily extended national circulation permits because IT disruption prevented normal user services. It later confirmed that offices had returned to normal operation by 9 November.
