Cyber intrusion disrupts New Peoples Bank transactions and online banking

New Peoples Bank, the directly affected US banking subsidiary of New Peoples Bankshares, detected on June 15, 2022, an unauthorized cyber intrusion that had begun on June 9. The bank’s computer-system interruption impeded banking transactions and access to some banking services; it reported limited operations restored on June 17 and full operations restored on June 21. A June 29 company statement confirmed that June 15 onward transactions were subsequently processed. The available company evidence establishes unauthorized access but does not independently confirm deployment of Black Basta ransomware. The April 22 date appearing in the candidate source table is incorrect.
