Cyberattack forces Buenos Aires city legislature into emergency parliamentary procedures

A cyberattack beginning September 11, 2022, compromised the Buenos Aires city legislature's internal systems and disabled its website, wireless connectivity, parliamentary consultation tools and institutional email. An official decree of September 12 identified serious interference with essential parliamentary workflows and instituted temporary administrative procedures to preserve legislative work and citizen participation. Parliamentary activity continued under contingency measures; the evidence does not establish that legislative sittings stopped. Contemporary reporting described the attack as ransomware, although the government's decree did not identify a malware family.
