Palermo municipal ransomware attack disables citizen and traffic-control services

A cyberattack against Palermo's municipal data center in early June 2022 disabled access to municipal IT services, citizen-facing websites and systems supporting traffic enforcement and municipal policing. The city's own 2022 reporting dates the broad IT shutdown to June 2 but another official section dates the traffic-monitoring outage to June 1. Vice Society claimed responsibility, and independent investigators confirmed ransomware-related disruption and stolen documents.
