Cyber intrusion interrupts Davenport Community School District communications

Davenport Community School District in Iowa determined that a network-security incident occurred on September 7, 2022. District officials described internet, telephone and email disruptions around the initial intrusion, materially impairing school-system communications and supporting educational service delivery. The district subsequently verified potential exposure of personal information and confirmed receiving, but not paying, an extortion demand. Karakurt claimed responsibility, but its assertions about the volume and publication of data were disputed. Separate email and phone disturbances reported on October 24 are not treated as the September outage's continuous duration.
