Indre-et-Loire council cyberattack halts communications and supplier payments

Malicious encryption struck the Indre-et-Loire departmental council overnight July 10–11, 2022, disabling internal servers, telephony and email and impeding public-service communications. Its accounting system could not process supplier invoices until September 7, leaving roughly 3,500 invoices awaiting payment in early September. Social-benefit disbursements nevertheless continued using workarounds.
