Whitworth University intrusion disrupts campus communications and teaching support

Whitworth University detected unauthorized access to its information systems on July 29, 2022. Its primary website and campus network services became unavailable, staff reported disabled telephones and Wi-Fi, and summer-course faculty could not use institutional email to communicate with students. The university used an emergency website while it restored systems. LockBit later claimed responsibility, but the university did not confirm a ransomware mechanism.
