Ransomware closes 7-Eleven stores across Denmark after checkout system failure

A ransomware attack on August 8, 2022 rendered payment and checkout systems unusable at 7-Eleven stores operated in Denmark, prompting closure of roughly 175 retail locations. Some shops reopened under limited payment arrangements before broad recovery; the Danish operating company later stated that the chain had reopened after approximately 48 hours. This is a Danish operating-chain incident, not an incident attributed to the US parent.
