Advanced ransomware attack disrupts NHS urgent and mental health services

On 4 August 2022 a ransomware intrusion into Advanced healthcare systems caused loss of access to its Adastra and other hosted applications. NHS 111 and out-of-hours services used manual workarounds, patient-record and referral workflows were disrupted, and some NHS trusts remained without CareNotes for months. The NHS was a customer affected by an attack on its software provider, not the direct target.
