Attack on IHK-GfI disrupts digital services across German chambers of commerce

On 3 August 2022 suspected malicious administrative access to systems at the central IT provider IHK-GfI prompted disconnection of IT serving Germany's 79 chambers of industry and commerce. Chamber websites, electronic communications and online registration services became unavailable or degraded for weeks; chamber personnel continued some services through other channels. The central provider was the direct network target, not the umbrella DIHK.
