Brazil ANP cyberattack response halts regulatory and petroleum-data services

On 4 August 2022 the Brazilian petroleum regulator ANP detected an attempted cyberattack and took its entire IT estate offline. Electronic administrative processing, regulated-company submissions and access to technical petroleum data were interrupted; the agency used email and physical media as workarounds while some systems remained unavailable for weeks or longer. No interruption of physical fuel production is established.
