LAUSD ransomware disables facilities and vendor-payment systems

Los Angeles Unified School District detected and interrupted a ransomware attack over the September 2022 Labor Day weekend, shutting down systems during containment. Systems used by its facilities division and for contractor and vendor payments remained unavailable, requiring workarounds for repairs and construction-related transactions. Classroom teaching, school buses, meals and ordinary payroll continued.
