Bardstown ransomware cuts municipal broadband and email service

A ransomware attack against the City of Bardstown’s systems knocked its city-operated Bardstown Connect internet service offline on September 2, 2022. Residents and businesses lost connectivity, merchants had difficulty processing card transactions, and the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office used alternative communications. The initial internet outage lasted about 18 hours, although other outages and restoration work continued.
