Cyberattack disrupts University of Innsbruck medical education administration

An attack discovered on 18 June 2022 encrypted data and disrupted central IT services at the Medical University of Innsbruck. Student and staff accounts required manual password reissuance; inaccessible student-service portals required examination registrations to be handled through email while core digital services were restored progressively. Vice Society later claimed responsibility and the university confirmed the attack and disclosure of stolen data.
