Opus Interactive ransomware disrupts hosted services and downstream clients

A ransomware attack detected around 9 May 2022 encrypted Opus Interactive server disks, including some hosted customer virtual servers and backups, causing cloud-hosting outages. Customer Ruby Receptionists temporarily lost call-answering service and moved to alternate infrastructure; campaign-finance provider C&E Systems lost access to its hosted database and used manual workflows. Oregon’s Secretary of State was an indirect affected party, not the directly attacked entity, and reported that its election systems were not compromised.
