Albuquerque Public Schools cyberattack cancels two days of districtwide instruction

A cyber intrusion identified by school officials on 11 January 2022 disrupted Albuquerque Public Schools student information systems used for attendance, student pickup authorization and emergency contacts. The district canceled instruction throughout the school system on 13 and 14 January because those systems were unavailable and could not support safe school operations. Schools reopened on 18 January through workarounds. A subsequent district investigation described the event as ransomware-related but did not identify unauthorized access to stored personal data.
