Airline Choice security incident disrupts Sunwing passenger check-in and flights

In mid-April 2022, US-based check-in systems provider Airline Choice reported a data-security incident and took parts of its infrastructure offline. Its direct customer Sunwing experienced an airline-wide check-in and boarding outage beginning by April 17, causing delayed and grounded flights, manual boarding passes, flight backlogs and stranded travellers in Canada and overseas destinations. By April 21 Sunwing reported 188 affected flights. The direct victim was the US technology provider, not Sunwing.
