Arles hospital ransomware forces degraded patient-care workflows

In the early hours of 2 August 2021, the Centre Hospitalier d’Arles detected encrypted files and Zeppelin ransom notes after its laboratory software failed. The hospital isolated its network, disconnected external systems and instructed clinical and administrative staff to operate under degraded manual procedures because normal computer and institutional email systems were unavailable. Patient services continued through fallback arrangements, but normal diagnostic and administrative workflows were materially impaired.
