ROC Mondriaan ransomware disrupts teaching and examinations across its campuses

On the night of 21 August 2021, a ROC Mondriaan IT employee detected malicious network activity, and a ransomware incident ultimately encrypted systems across the institution’s campuses. When the academic year began on 30 August, students still attended in person but most applications, shared teaching files and electronic learning tools were unavailable, forcing modified teaching. Some examinations were moved to other educational institutions to maintain continuity.
