Gloucester City Council cyberattack disrupts resident and planning services

On 20 December 2021, a cyberattack damaged Gloucester City Council network and online services, disabling resident-facing benefit, council-tax support, planning and local-land-charge services. Applications and property searches were delayed, and some planning access problems persisted months after the attack. The council and a local-government ombudsman documented actual service delivery failures.
