Toei Animation ransomware disrupts anime production and scheduled releases

On 6 March 2022, unauthorized access followed by ransomware encryption affected Toei Animation servers and computers. The company shut down portions of its internal systems; it later confirmed roughly one month of delays in animation production and postponed broadcasts or deliveries of One Piece, Digimon Ghost Game, Delicious Party Pretty Cure and Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai. The company subsequently reported a return toward normal production and delivery schedules, without confirming data leakage.
