NEW Cooperative ransomware forces manual grain-handling and feed-distribution workarounds

A BlackMatter ransomware attack against Iowa-based NEW Cooperative around September 18-19, 2021 prompted the organization to isolate its computer network and suspend soil-management software. Grain elevator receiving and tracking shifted to paper scale tickets; the cooperative used workarounds to keep accepting grain and distributing animal feed rather than completely suspending deliveries.
