Cyberattack disrupts Tenet Healthcare hospital systems and acute care operations

A cybersecurity incident affecting Tenet Healthcare became operationally apparent at several facilities on 20 April 2022. At St. Mary's Medical Center and Good Samaritan Medical Center in Florida, telephone, network and clinical information systems became unavailable, disrupting medical charting and portions of acute-care delivery and requiring paper-based contingency procedures. Tenet confirmed temporary disruptions but stated that hospitals continued providing care. It later estimated an approximately USD 100 million unfavorable effect on second-quarter adjusted EBITDA attributable to the incident; this figure is not a ransom payment.
