EKZ cyberattack delays library supplier orders and degrades Onleihe digital lending

A cyberattack against the German library-services provider EKZ on 18 April 2022 made company websites, catalog-delivery systems and other digital infrastructure unavailable. EKZ reported that deliveries of library equipment had to be resumed in stages and that order handling and invoicing remained delayed in late April. The associated Onleihe digital-lending service experienced failures affecting electronic audio, video and some e-book files. LockBit listed EKZ and claimed stolen data, but the victim's statements did not independently establish ransomware encryption as the attack mechanism; the exact causal connection between the attack and every media-file error is not fully resolved.
