Cyberattack on Bulgarian Posts disrupts parcel deliveries and counter payments

A serious cyberattack on Bulgarian Posts' information systems on 16 April 2022 impaired postal and financial services. The operator later confirmed that incoming international letters and parcels without collection charges could only resume delivery on 29 April, while utility-bill payments and money-transfer functions were being restored incrementally. National television documented pension-payment failures at post-office counters in Plovdiv and Ruse on 18 April, despite the operator's earlier assurance that pension payments would not be interrupted. Domestic items not requiring cash on delivery continued to be distributed.
