Expeditors cyberattack interrupts global freight forwarding and customs services

On 20 February 2022, Expeditors detected a targeted cyberattack and shut down most global operating, connectivity and accounting systems. For approximately three weeks, its ability to arrange freight shipments, process cargo moving through ports and provide customs and distribution services was materially limited. Its later SEC filing reported USD 59 million in cumulative additional expenses net of recoveries and revisions, with further unquantified revenue loss.
