Hays USD 489 ransomware disrupts digital learning systems and school production workflows

On 10 February 2022, Hays USD 489 in Kansas suffered a ransomware attack that disabled school servers, Canvas learning-management access, websites, printers and other classroom-support systems. School newspaper and yearbook production files became unavailable, although teaching continued and staff devised workarounds; access to some affected files was restored only in late March and early April.
